5 nutrition experts weigh in on the 5 foods no one should eat in an article published by the Independent Woman, and the results are not all the usual suspects.
Technically, the list ends up with more like 20 different items, since these five experts don't seem to agree on everything. The one fairly common denominator?
Processed meats, which made the cut, as it were, three out of five times.
But some of the other entrants on the no-fry zone are surprising, to say the least.
Bananas? "They are really high in fast-releasing sugars and if you don't want a muffin top later in life you have to control sugar" warns Patrick Holford, founder of the Institute for Optimum Nutrition.
But wait, it gets even weirder.
White Rice? Huh? Hasn't white rice fed millions of otherwise starving people all over the world for thousands of years?
According to Dr. Joel Fuhrman, author of the NYT bestseller, "Eat to Live", white rice is devoid of fiber and may even cause diabetes.
Sheesh. For years now the experts have been telling consumers about the dangers of certain foods.
But the list seems to vary from decade to decade. What was once considered wholesome is now a ticking time bomb.
It's hard to know exactly who has the best advice to follow.
So, just take it all with a grain of salt.
Oh. Right. Never mind.
